No food, gum or drinks in the classrooms. There is no smoking anywhere
in the studio.
Students
should arrive at the studio with ample time to sign in, stretch, and prepare
for class.
No large or dangling jewelry may be worn in class.
Students and parents are responsible for checking bulletin boards and
calendars frequently for important information, up coming events or programs.
Effective 8/1/02 there will be a $15.00 charge for each class change
after October 31st. Please refer to your class placement handout for your
best-suited classes.
A principle focus in the art of dance is discipline. Proper respect,
courtesy and attention are expected. Parents are encouraged to discuss
this rule with their children. Any child who disrupts class will
be warned, and if behavior continues the child will be asked to leave class.
There will be times when the teachers will employ hands-on adjusting
corrections to the students.
Crickets reserves the right to close a class due to low enrollment.
In the event this occurs the student will be referred to a comparable class.
Class observation times are held twice a year. This is a time for parents
to observe a child’s progress. During observation week, only parents may
come with the child to class to observe. Observation dates will be announced
in our Newsletter.
Parents must supervise any young children not in class. We suggest you
bring a quiet activity for them.
We do not hold classes on the following days – Labor Day, Thanksgiving,
Christmas Eve and Day, New Year’s Eve and Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day,
and Independence Day. All other non-holiday studio closings will
be announced.
CLASS PLACEMENT
Previous experience does not automatically guarantee your level
of placement. Students will be placed according to ability into the next
level at the discretion of the instructor. Evaluation will take place on
a monthly basis.
All new students must come in for an evaluation to be placed in the
proper class levels. Please call the studio for an appointment.
We look
for several things in determining placement of our students including sound
technical understanding, comprehension of the specific concepts and a strong
level of confidence in their dancing.
The first two weeks of the students’ enrollment are considered placement
classes – after which if a different level would be better suited to the
student’s abilities, adjustments may be made. Most students are placed
in a class according to ability and experience, with age as a secondary
factor in placement. Students are placed with only the best intentions
of the staff and the concern that the student is challenged, not frustrated.
A child will be most happy in a class where she is not frustrated or bored.
Students must be technically ready to begin pointe work. For this
reason, your teacher will determine whether you are ready to begin pointe
work Students must take ballet technique in addition to this class.
A minimum of 2 technique classes/week are strongly suggested. Students
that take time-off will be required 6 months pre-pointe work before dancing
“en pointe”. We do not offer pointe classes to students who are not
committed to taking at least two-three slipper classes per week in addition
to their pointe class and have proper bone maturation in order to support
the pointe technique.
THE TEACHER WILL DECIDE IF THE STUDENT HAS REACHED TECHNICAL AND PHYSICAL
READINESS FOR POINTE
Private lessons for choreography are limited to students whose goals
are oriented toward competition, auditions, or performance groups. We do
not offer private lessons just for someone to do a solo in the end of year
program. We believe that is a privilege that has to be earned.
ATTENDANCE
Students are expected and encouraged to attend class on a regular
basis. Missed classes affect personal progress as well as class progress.
Please try not to miss more than 4 classes during our dance year.
Please show consideration to your teacher and arrive on time. Anyone
arriving late to class may be asked not to take the class, or to leave.
Please keep in mind that you are paying to hold your place in a class,
as well as for choreography in the June Show. If you need to miss class
due to outside activities, sports, etc, you are still required to pay the
full amount for tuition whether you attend or not.
Please notify the studio In the event of an illness, in order for us
to best determine a make-up schedule, also that you are going to be late
it is essential the teacher knows, and it is also polite.
Students are reminded of the importance of regular attendance to class.
Between February and June all classes are working on different show choreography.
Students who miss classes between March and June must schedule a paid private
lesson to learn the missed choreography at the discretion of the teacher
- since other routines will be worked on in comparable classes and the
student will not be learning what has been missed in his/her class in a
“regular make-up class”. This policy will be fair to all students - especially
to the ones who have been attending class. Otherwise students that miss
and do not schedule private make-ups will only dance in parts of the routine
that the student has learned in class. If a student misses a class or rehearsal
just before a performance, that student will not perform.
CLASS CANCELLATION
You may withdraw from any or all classes at any time by giving
written notice - or drop class form - to the office no later than the 15th
of the month. If written notice is not received by the 15th you are obligated
to pay the next month’s tuition.
You must notify the studio at least one hour prior to missing a class.
Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the opportunity of a make-up
class.
Please notify the studio In the event of an illness, in order for us
to best determine a make-up schedule, also that you are going to be late
it is essential the teacher knows, and it is also polite.
Make-ups are necessary for the student and the entire class. The make-up
class will review material covered in the student’s absence.
Missed make-up classes will not be re-scheduled. For the benefit of
the student, classes must be made up within 3 weeks of the missed class
to remain in that class. If the student does not make up the class within
the 3 week time period, the make up class is forfeited and no credits will
be given.
Due to weather or studio closing make-up classes will be scheduled.
In case of inclement weather; cancellations and postponements will be announced
by WLAN FM 97 – or call the studio.
If a student misses class for four or more consecutive weeks, that student
must re-register for classes and will be charged the registration fee.
